Attachment Wounds
Welcome to our therapeutic space, dedicated to understanding and supporting those who have experienced attachment wounds during their formative years or identify as Third Culture Kids (TCKs). Whether you are a TCK yourself or a parent of a TCK, this space is here to provide support, understanding, and guidance for navigating the unique challenges and opportunities of growing up in multiple cultures.

What is it?
Attachment wounds are deep emotional injuries that occur when a child's need for secure emotional connection—typically with a primary caregiver—is unmet, violated, or disrupted. These wounds can profoundly affect a person's sense of safety, self-worth, and ability to form healthy relationships throughout life.
Common Causes:
-
Neglect: Emotional or physical needs are consistently ignored.
-
Abuse: Physical, emotional, or sexual abuse by a caregiver.
-
Abandonment: A caregiver leaves physically or emotionally.
-
Inconsistent caregiving: Care is unpredictable—sometimes nurturing, other times rejecting or unavailable.
-
Loss or trauma: A significant caregiver dies or is suddenly removed from the child's life.
